Prayers
"On the spiritual way, one usually starts by focusing on the outside, on a sacred physical object like a statue or a certain ritual, or something similar. Man needs something with which he can identify himself, something that is close to him, something that he can touch.
Doing mantras, rosaries, singing, these are means to support us in our meditation. Their vibrations have a positive effect on our minds and our thinking — they can open our hearts to the divine.
Then, little by little, we have to turn from the outward prayer inwards. True meditation, true prayer means to communicate, or commune, with God inwardly, in spirit; it means to develop from indirect to direct communion with God.
Besides meditation, it is also very important to practice introspection, to look
within and analyse our thoughts, words and deeds. We must look at our
shadow and accept that it is there. This will teach us humility. Then we can
start to do corrections and start changing our behaviour or way
of thinking."
