Description

Gurupurnima, the full moon day in the Hindu month of Ashad (July-August) is observed as the auspicious day of Gurupurnima, a day sacred to the memory of the great sage Vyasa. All are indebted to this ancient saint who edited all the Vedic texts into the four Vedas, wrote the 18 Puranas, the Mahabharata and the Shreemad Bhagavatam.

Gurupurnima is the day when Gurus worldwide are honoured and paid homage. The Guru is everything for the seeker of God because the Guru is the one who introduces us to God. The Guru makes God accessible to the people. On Gurupurnima, we venerate the form of the Guru and express our gratitude for his infinite grace and guidance. On this day we venerate our Guru, Paramahamsa Vishwananda, by starting with Guru Paduka Puja followed by a bhajan stotra (108 songs dedicated to Guruji) sung by the various country groups who have been transformed by Guru Kripa ̶ the grace of the Guru.
