Description

Gratitude for the Guru

Gurupurnima is the day we venerate our beloved Satguru, Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananda. It is a time to come together as a community to shower Guruji with Love and gratitude for all the blessings and guidance He gives us throughout the year.

The aim of the bhakta is to attain the Grace of the Guru, Guru Kripa. With Guru Kripa one is elevated, and obtains all gifts, all accomplishments, all wealth, even liberation.

Did you know?

Gurupurnima was originally celebrated in memory of the great sage Veda Vyasa. He was a Divine Incarnation of the Lord who compiled the four Vedas, wrote the 18 major Puranas, the Mahabharata and the Shreemad Bhagavatam. It was established as a day to venerate the Guru who masterfully guides His devotees to the Lotus Feet of the Lord.

What to Expect

Festivities begin with Guru Puja. Throughout the day, country groups will perform a bhajan stotra: 108 bhajans all dedicated to the Guru. The day ends with Guru Pada Abhishekam and a blessing from Guruji.

Traditionally, Gurupurnima is also a day to offer Dakshina to the Guru for all the gifts He bestows upon us. Dakshina is a financial gift given to a spiritual Master in gratitude for a blessing. It is a voluntary gift and is not required in any way.

What to Wear

Gurupurnima is a festive occasion, so traditionally we dress in bright colours. Indian dress is encouraged, but not required. Women are encouraged to wear saris or ankle-length skirts and men are asked wear a dhoti and kurta, or to dress smartly in nice shirts and trousers.

Just Love Festival & Gurupurnima Package Deals

This year, the Just Love Festival takes place the weekend before Gurupurnima: 12 - 14 July. We invite you to come in time to enjoy the festival and to stay for the big Gurupurnima afterparties! Be sure to check out our camping options and special package deals on the Tickets page.

Sponsor this Event

Most of our festivities are free and open to the public. Sponsoring a puja is wonderful way to say thank you to Gurudev for all the blessings you have received from Him. It is also a generous way to help make the event available to others and to contribute to making it memorable for everyone.

The act of giving from the heart is a true blessing in and of itself. By helping to sponsor the event you reap the benefits from all the prayers done during the festivities. Even if you are unable to attend the event, you may still take part by becoming a sponsor.
