Description

Maha Lakshmi Yagna for Children and Youngsters

It is important to teach our children the traditions and values of our path. They are eager to learn and enjoy the opportunity to experience doing what their parents do, especially when they can do things on their own. The Maha Lakshmi Yagna provides such an opportunity, giving children from the age of 6-15 the chance to prepare for and conduct a 'kids only yagna' on the same day their parents are taking part in the 'grown-up yagna'.

Divine Mother is everything. She cherishes everybody, She cares for everyone, and She holds everyone as Her child. We are all sitting in Her lap by Her Grace and Love.

Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananda

What to expect

The whole morning will revolve around Maha Lakshmi. We will listen to stories about Her, sing bhajans in Her honour and prepare everything for the yagna in the afternoon. Together the children will learn how to make prasad and flower garlands, and set-up the yagna kund. Children younger than six may take part in the day's activities, but only with the full supervision of an adult.

Schedule

10:00 - 13:00       Preparation of everything needed for the yagna   (Seminar Room)
13:00                    Parents pick-up their children at the Seminar Room
13:00 - 14:30      Lunch break
14:30 - 16:00      Yagna in the Yagna Shala (outside the back door of the Temple)
16:00                    Parents pick-up their children at the Yagna Shala

What to wear

The Maha Lakshmi Yagna is a festive occasion, so traditionally we dress in our best clothes. Indian dress is encouraged, but not required.
