Description

The Patient Lord

Panduranga Vitthala and Rukmini are coming to Shree Peetha Nilaya! Panduranga Vitthala is the form of Krishna who patiently waits for His devotees. The dark blue Divine couple are exquisitely carved and will reside in a small dome temple that was lovingly handcrafted with thousands of mirrored and specialty tiles.

What to Expect

Paramahamsa Vishwananda will lead the inauguration ceremonies which take place during the last three days of Spring Navaratri. Festivities include daily pujas, Prana Pratishtha rituals, a yagna, bhajans and countless blessings. All are welcome to attend.

Did you know?

When Krishna went to find Rukmini after she left Dwarka, He took the form of Panduranga Vitthala. When they reunited, the Divine couple decided to visit a devotee named Pundalik: a former sinner turned saint. Once abusive, Pundalik became totally devoted to his parents after a life-changing realisation. His devotion was so focused that he told the Lord to wait while he finished serving his parents. He even threw a brick for the Lord to stand on. The brick represents devotion. It represents bhakti, fully-absorbed, single-pointed love and service to the Divine which goes far beyond external acts of worship. When bhakti awakens inside of ourselves it helps us grow ever closer to the Lord.

What to wear

Temple inaugurations are festive occasions. Traditionally, we dress in bright colours, especially yellow as that is Krishna’s colour. Indian dress is encouraged, but not required. Women please wear saris or ankle-length skirts; men please wear kurtas and dhotis, or nice shirts and trousers. Since this event will take place outside, it is important to dress warmly and be prepared to be out in the sun and weather for several hours.
