Pilgrimages are journeys where we travel on the outside to reach deeper levels on the inside. For many years now, Paramahamsa Vishwananda has made himself available for extensive pilgrimages to many parts of India, as well as countries with a rich Christian history like Israel and France.
These pilgrimage places are very special places. They are special because once Krishna or Christ walked in these places and they have been kept alive through the faith of people. They are special because there is a connection that one feels which is completely different from other places.Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananda
Whilst his disciples and devotees know that essentially all pilgrimage places of the world are situated at the feet of their Satguru, and that if one has surrendered to him there is no need for traveling far and wide, it is naturally an extraordinary rich, sweet and intense experience to be travelling with the Guru in person. Not only is one under the direct guidance for many days in a row, but one receives the teachings in a unique environment that makes the experience unforgettable. Away from the routine of daily life, these travels literally become "milestones" in one's life.
When one travels with the Guru, the journey becomes more than an ordinary spiritual trip. Participants regularly report major personal transformations, each one in his or her own way, and it is clear that if they had visited the same place without their spiritual teacher, it would have not have been the same.
With his Grace, the pilgrims get to see legendary temples, great scenic beauty, and experience being transported back in time to historic events long passed. These journeys set the stage for a larger purpose, where the teachings are safely placed so they can blossom inside of us over the months and years to come.
On these pilgrimages, we get to see where Avatars and great saints over the millennia were born, lived and taught, where miracles were performed through the Grace of God, and where the Divine appeared for the welfare of mankind and left behind powerful places for generations to come. Step by step, as we track through the lands, valleys and mountains, we open our inner eyes and let the spiritual awakening happen in within.
The following is a list of some of the places Paramahamsa Vishwananda, together with his devotees, have visited over the past years: Ahobilam, Allahabad, Arunachala, Assisi, Athens, Bari, Bethlehem, Bodhgaya, Calcutta, Chartres, Dharamsala (Mc Leod Ganji), Haridwar, Himalayas (Chardam: Badrinath,Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedernath), Jerusalem, Kanchipuram, Lourdes, Madurai, Mayapur, Navadvip, Paris, Rishikesh, Shirdi, Udupi, Varanasi, Vrindavan.
The most amazing is if we can feel with our heart, not what we see on the outside, but what we can see with the eyes of the heart. When we look at it with the eyes of the heart, we will realise that all these places are there. They are all present inside of us. We go to pilgrimage places to remind ourselves of what we have inside.Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananda
