Description

The Merciful Protector

Narasimha Chaturthi celebrates the appearance day of Lord Nrsingadev: the half-lion/half-man Avatar. He is the most merciful protector of His devotees. Although His ugra form appears ferocious, in reality He is the sweetest of all to those who are surrendered to the Lord.

The world needs His energy. The world needs His Grace and His power. Nrsingadev restores balance and destroys spiritual pride. He eliminates all darkness, as He cleanses and purifies the mind of negativity.

What to expect

During the event, we will venerate Lord Nrsingadev with special prayers, pujas and bhajans. We will also do abhishekam on Lord Bhutabhrteshwarnath in the temple, and then offer prasad and arati.

Did you know?

Lord Narasimha is the half-man/half-lion Avatar of the Supreme Lord, Narayana. He manifested Himself by emerging from a stone pillar to kill the demon king Hiranyakashipu who was trying to kill his four-year-old son Prahlad: a great bhakta of Lord Narayana. Narasimha’s rage was so intense, no one but Prahlad could pacify Him. When the young boy lovingly looked into the eyes of the Lord with love and gratitude in his heart, the Lord calmed down, took Prahlad onto His lap and embraced him.

Interestingly, the manifestation of Lord Narasimha only lasted only six hours. However, in that time, He took on nine different aspects. All nine aspects are represented in murtis displayed in the Bhutabhrteshwarnath Mandir. No other temple features these particular nine forms of Narasimha under one roof.

What To Wear

Narasimha Chaturthi is a festive occasion. Indian dress is encouraged, but not required. There is no special colour to wear. Women are encouraged to wear saris or ankle-length skirts, men are encouraged to wear kurtas and dhotis or nice shirts and trousers.

Narasimha Jayanti 2019

The Lord shows His more powerful form and this Ugra (ferocious) form to kill the anger, pride, egoism inside of us, showing that He is above all this.

The act of giving from the heart is a true blessing in and of itself. By helping to sponsor the event you reap the benefits from all the prayers done during the festivities. Even if you are unable to attend the event, you may still take part by becoming a sponsor.
