Babaji Surya Namaskar is a moving prayer of gratitude that combines reverence and awareness of the Divine with mantra and ancient yoga asanas (postures). A simple practice of 6-8 daily rounds takes only 10-15 minutes, and can provide the same benefits as 45 minutes of Hatha Yoga: strength, positive energy flow, and clarity of mind.
Our moving meditation, Babaji Surya Namaskar, celebrates the divinity of the human body temple. It takes only a few minutes a day and brings light and aliveness into your whole being. As your daily practice takes root in the core of your body, thinking subsides and your movements become a soft, conscious expression of your inner strength.
Align Body, Mind and Spirit
10-15 Minutes a Day
The simple 14-posture practice is easy to learn and do. Typically done at sunrise, the practice is a great way to start the day. The whole practice takes only 10-15 minutes, leaving you more time for what is really important in your life. It is an excellent complement to all the other Bhakti Marga practices.
Babaji Surya Namaskar works on the whole being. Physically, the practice strengthens your heart and all the major muscle groups in the body. It improves digestion and gives you a boost of energy to sustain you in your busy daily life. Just a few rounds will help clear your mind and energise your whole being.
Put Devotion into Motion
Bowing down physically helps you cultivate devotion by reminding you that everything comes from the Divine. When the practice is done with love and awareness, every posture becomes a prayer of gratitude for life itself.
Surya Namaskar is an exercise which you do every day. It is an exercise of saluting the sun where every part of your body is infused with the sun’s rays inside: sun energy.
What Makes Babaji Surya Namaskar Unique?
First of many
Mahavatar Babaji taught the first Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) thousands of years ago. It uniquely balances both the solar (Surya) and lunar (Chandra) energy channels of your body. All other modern Surya and Chandra Namaskar practices came from this original one.
The Body Vehicle
A body is essential to your spiritual advancement. The ultimate human spiritual goal is to attain Self and God-Realisation. This realisation is only possible when a soul inhabits a human body. Having a healthy body supports you on that journey.
Babaji Surya Namaskar uniquely combines movement, mantra, breath and awareness of the Divinity inherent in a human body. Through this reverence and devotion, love is embodied and expressed through the conscious action of movement.
What People Say
Opened my heart to love
This series gives me an immediate boost of energy, strength, flexibility, and openness. It has also improved my focus and concentration significantly. The best part is how it has changed my perspective on life and opened my heart to love.
I find my body is much stronger than it ever was – which is surprising considering that I spend less than 10 minutes doing it every day. It gives me a lot of energy to go through my day. There is more to Babaji Surya Namaskar than meets the eye.
Saves a lot of time
I find Babaji Surya Namaskar to be a good and much shorter and quicker replacement for maintaining my overall health, energy, and suppleness. It saves a lot of time for me, and I can now spend more time practicing Atma Kriya Yoga, which is more meditative in nature.
