Description

You’re Invited to a Wedding!

Tulsi Vivaha celebrates the marriage of Tulsi Devi and the Supreme Lord. Tulsi Devi represents selfless devotion and She appears in the form of a sacred basil plant. Her devotion is so pure, a single leaf offered with love will satisfy the Lord and invoke His blessings.

Did you know?

Vrinda was a princess who worshipped Maha Vishu with such intense devotion it made Her demon husband, Jalandhar, invincible. The pleas of the gods led to Maha Vishu disguising Himself as Her husband to break Her vow of chastity and make Her husband vulnerable. Upon Her husband’s death the betrayal was revealed. She was so hurt by the Lord’s stone-heartedness, She cursed Him to become a stone. However, when Vrinda saw Her sister Maha Lakshmi’s pain at losing Her own husband, Vrinda immediately took back the curse. In memory of her selflessness, Maha Vishnu agreed to marry Her and promised to stay at Her Feet in the form of a Shaligram wherever She manifests as the sacred basil plant.

What to expect

The wedding between Tulsi Devi and Lord Krishna is always a lively and joyful event. It begins with an expanded evening prayer service featuring special pujas, abhishekam, bhajans and satsang, all designed to glorify Tulsi Devi. It concludes with a reenactment of the auspicious wedding and a dancing parikrama around the Divine Couple to live bhajans.

What to wear

Tulsi Vivaha is a festive occasion. Indian dress is encouraged, but not required. Women are asked to wear saris or ankle-length skirts. Men should wear kurtas and dhotis, or nice shirts and trousers.

    Sponsor this event

Most of our festivities are free and open to the public. Sponsoring a puja is wonderful way to say thank you to Gurudev for all the blessings you have received from Him. It is also a generous way to help make the event available to others and to contribute to making it memorable for everyone.

The act of giving from the heart is a true blessing in and of itself. By helping to sponsor the event you reap the benefits from all the prayers done during the festivities. Even if you are unable to attend the event, you may still take part by becoming a sponsor.
